McDonald’s opens €3.2m Ballincollig restaurant

McDonald’s has added 75 jobs to Ballincollig with the opening of its new €3.2m drive-through restaurant.

The restaurant features technology such as self order kiosks and Samsung Galaxy tablets as well as an interior play area, reflecting the ‘Spirit of Family’ restaurant theme. The restaurant can accommodate 170 diners at any one time, with a further 40 seats in an outdoor dining area.

“The construction work was carried out by a number of local sub-contractors, supporting 30 additional jobs, and was completed two weeks ahead of schedule,” said McDonald’s owner operator, John Blake. “We’re especially proud of the strong family focus we have created in the restaurant. I think the installation of tablets are a fantastic addition which will entertain and educate our younger customers in particular.”

“The opening of this new restaurant in Ballincollig highlights our on-going commitment to Ireland, not only with the development and refurbishment of our restaurants but also in our commitment to Irish suppliers,” said  McDonald’s Ireland MD Adrian Crean.

The new restaurant brings the total number of McDonald’s restaurants in Ireland to 87, with a nationwide workforce of over 4,500 employees.
