Meet shortlisted bidders on Courts Bundle PPP Project

The National Development Finance Agency (NDFA) and Courts Service in partnership with Enterprise Ireland are running an information and networking event connecting local suppliers to opportunities in the construction sector as part of the €135m Courts Bundle PPP Project.

The Meet the Buyer event takes place on Monday January 12th 2015 in Hotel Kilkenny, Kilkenny at 9.30am. This free event is open to construction suppliers and enterprises in a wide variety of supply categories. Facilities Management subcontractors with expertise in areas such as planned preventative maintenance and cleaning services are also invited to participate.  Attendees will learn more about the 7 courthouses that will be built under this initiative and have an opportunity to meet with the four public private partnership and building tenderers.  Attendees will also find out how to become a sub supplier through a series of short 5 minute “pitch” meetings.

Registration for the Meet the Buyer event is free and interested companies can now register to attend on: www.enterprise-ireland.com/courtsppp

The four Public Private Partnership (PPP) consortia that have been shortlisted to progress to the next stage of the delivery of these courthouses are as outlined in the table below:

There will also be an Enterprise Support zone at the event, where attendees can get information on business supports through the Local Enterprise Office network and Enterprise Ireland. The Department of Social Protection will provide delegates with information on the Pathways to Work initiative (including the Jobs Ireland Services) and check eligibility for the JobsPlus scheme. Delegates will be able to meet with advisers on cross border trade opportunities, public sector tendering and consortia building through InterTrade Ireland.

The seven courthouses will be built across 7 sites in 7 counties in locations across Ireland. Full details of the programme can be found on the http://www.ndfa.ie/TenderCompetitions/courtsPPPProgramme.htm

It is anticipated that these building projects will be delivered as part of a single Public Private Partnership (PPP) contract, with construction commencing in late 2015.

The NDFA is responsible for delivering €650m of Public Private Partnership projects as part of the €2.5b Infrastructure Stimulus Programme announced by the Irish Government in July 2012. This strategic courts project will deliver in the region of 1,750 construction jobs.

Brian Murphy, Chief Executive of the NDFA, welcoming the opportunity to work in collaboration with Enterprise Ireland and the Courts Service, said: ‘This event is about giving suppliers from the SME and construction sector all the information and support they need to be able to tap into the business opportunity presented by these multi regional projects’.

Courts Service CEO Brendan Ryan, added: ‘The Courts Service is looking forward to these projects and the significant improvements in facilities they will bring to court users in the seven locations around the country. We also welcome the positive economic impact in the areas concerned which this investment will have during the construction phase’.

Enda McDonnell, Enterprise Ireland Regional Director South/South East, said: ‘This ‘meet the buyer’ event is a great way for Irish construction services firms to win significant contracts in Ireland, and to use the experience gained in the delivery of world-class building infrastructure in Ireland as a platform for growth in international markets’.
