“This ambitious construction project provides 35 units of suitably accessible accommodation for a range of residents such as people with disabilities and older people, including some retired Presentation Order Sisters. The project has been developed in partnership with a wide-range of stakeholders including the City Council, the Presentation Order, the JP McManus Fund, the HSE, as well as people with disabilities and their families from the Limerick Region. My own Department has provided over €3.4 million in funding under the Capital Assistance Scheme, the JP McManus Fund, a key benefactor, has provided more than €1.35 million towards the project, and the Presentation Order have provided the development site. Great credit is also due to the Rehab Group for its collaboration on this initiative,” stated Minister O’Sullivan.
Newgrove Housing Association will own and manage the accommodation and Rehab Care will own and operate the on-site resource centre. Minister O’Sullivan welcomed the new facility as “ an excellent example of how the social housing needs of our society can be met through the increasingly important partnership between voluntary housing groups and statutory authorities”.
