The UK’s largest urban logistics property developer and asset manager has opened a Dublin office near St Stephen’s Green and appointed a development director for Ireland to support its European expansion.

Chancerygate has recruited Ed Dobbs from property development and investment company Hammerson where he was most recently development director for its Irish business.

In his new role, Ed will be responsible for driving Chancerygate’s expansion throughout Ireland and overseeing the developer’s proposed Airport Trade Park development near Dublin airport.

Chancerygate acquired the five-acre site in partnership with specialist sustainable and impact investor Bridges Fund Management in 2022 for €4.5m.

Subject to planning, the partners will speculatively develop 1.06-hectare (114,000 sq ft) of Grade A urban logistics and warehouse space across 14 units ranging from 0.03-hectare (3,500 sq ft) to 0.19 hectare (20,675 sq ft).

Commenting on his new role, Ed said: “Ireland presents Chancerygate with a great opportunity thanks to its reputation and experience in delivering multi-unit Grade A urban logistics developments.

“Through strategic site acquisitions and developing high-quality accommodation, we can achieve our objective of establishing Chancerygate as the most prominent urban logistics developers in Ireland.”

In the UK, Chancerygate currently has around 24-hectares (2.65m sq ft) of urban logistics space under construction or ready for development across 19 sites. These range from Edinburgh to Chichester on England’s south coast.

Chancerygate also manages in excess of €450m of assets across more than 46-hectares (five million sq ft) of commercial space in over 480 units throughout the UK.

The company also recently announced the opening of an office in Madrid and appointed a development director for Spain as the developer ramps up its expansion into Europe.

In addition to Dublin and Madrid, Chancerygate has UK offices in London, Warrington, Birmingham and Bristol.
