Irish Construction Manager of the Year Awards to be presented on June 5th
All of the Entries for the 2015 Irish Construction Manager of the Year Awards are now in and it looks like it will once again be a very closely run competition. The event, which is run by the Chartered Institute of Building in Ireland, is now in its 17th year and continues to be the showcase for the best of Irish construction.
Past winners include Thomas O’Conner of Collen Construction for his management of the simultaneous construction of 3 substations for Eirgrid & ESB. Donal McCarthy of CMP for his management of the construction of the Convention centre in Dublin. Michael McCormack of Michael McNamara construction for his management of the building of Elmpark development in Dublin and also the managers responsible for such projects as Dundrum Shopping Centre, the Square Shopping Centre, the Helix and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. All of these were very worthy winners who against very strong competition shone as the leading construction managers in the industry.

This year’s competition sees the usual sub-categories of Building with special emphasis for areas such as Civil Engineering, Green Building as well as the introduction of the new area of BIM.
Entries are now with our assessors for the first level of the adjudication process. Those who are successful will move to the finalist stage and to the awards dinner will then be held in the Conrad Hotel Dublin on June 5th.
Winners in each category will receive either a commendation, bronze, silver or Gold medal and there will be one overall winner chosen from each of the category winners who will receive the title of Construction Manager of the Year together with a trophy and monetary award.
The CYMA is a unique competition. Judged by the CIOB, these are the only industry awards that celebrate individual management achievement. The awards are not for the projects, the processes, the products or design.
The CMYA represents a challenge for construction managers to accurately identify their overall role in the completion of the complex and involved projects for which they have made an entry into this competition.

Tickets are now available for the CMYA awards dinner which takes place on June 5th in the Conrad hotel Dublin. Tickets are priced at €100 or £75pp and entertainment on the night will be provided by a leading Irish comedian.
