The Anner is an iconic hotel in Thurles and was established approximately 50 years ago. It has a modern business centre with 7 conference rooms and the main function room has capacity for over 250 guests (banqueting style). The leisure centre opened in 1998 and has an 18 metre swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna as well as a modern gym.
The hotel occupies a prominent 2 acre site fronting the Dublin Road just on the eastern edge of the town centre and just 4 miles off Exit 5 of the M8 Motorway. The site has beautifully laid out gardens which are ideal for weddings and outdoor events, the remainder of the site is laid out with surface parking. The location is only a 5 min walk to Thurles Town Centre.
PJ Maher on behalf of the new owners confirmed the sale and said that he and his brothers Michael & Seamus are delighted to have purchased the Anner Hotel. This is also good news for the town as it should secure 60 existing jobs. The Maher’s have plans for a significant refurbishment of the property including all the ground floor areas and bedrooms which will significantly improve the customer experience. The plan is to grow the business, to support local businesses and provide the people of Thurles with a first class hotel facility.
