Dept of Education short listed for SEAI award

The Department of Education and Skills has been shortlisted for the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) Legacy Awards 2013.

The Legacy category reflects and recognises individuals and organisations that have been instrumental in changing energy management practices over the last ten years.

The Department of Education and Skills schools energy research programme has been in place since 1997.  It offers leadership, excellence and a commitment to the sustainable design, build and operation of all schools.

The SEAI has recognised this with a number of energy awards in the past ten years. The Department programme has also received other national and international awards.

The success of the programme is based on a strong 16 year partnership with schools, teachers, pupils, parents, industry and the SEAI.

The Department is in good company with University College Cork/Tyndall and Intel among the other finalists.

The winner will be decided by public vote and a judges’ review. The public vote will account for 50 per cent of the total scores. Voting will close on Friday November 1st.
