Invitation to Public Workshop on the Urban Design Framework Plan in Drogheda Heritage Quarter

Drogheda Borough Council is currently preparing an Urban Design Framework Plan for Drogheda’s Heritage Quarter. The area is defined by the line of the former town walls and includes the town centre. As part of the process, workshops will be held to give the local community and stakeholders an opportunity to engage in the development of the framework. The general public is being invited to attend a public workshop to discuss any issues that are relevant in preparing the Framework Plan on Wednesday 5th December 2012 at 7pm -9pm , Barlow House, Narrow West St, Drogheda, Co Louth

Purpose of the Project

The Purpose of the project is to set out the principal objectives to guide the sensitive future development of the Heritage Quarter as an asset of national and international worth with a distinct urban form and historical evolution. It will emphasise the need to continue to protect the heritage assets of the town whilst developing the economic, recreational and tourism potential of Drogheda having regard to its natural setting and heritage and promote the continued development of the Heritage Quarter as a place to invest, work , live and recreate. It will also seek to facilitate the continued vibrancy of Drogheda as a dynamic growning urban centre which plays a pivotal riole along the eastern corridor.
