Energia, Ireland’s greenest electricity supplier, has commenced operations at its newest wind farm at Hollyford, County Tipperary, supplying energy to homes and businesses around Ireland.

Located near the village of Hollyford in County Tipperary, the €19m Hollyford Wind Farm has the capacity to produce 9 megawatts of renewable electricity.

The main body of the facility’s three turbines stand 75 metres and their rotor blades have a diameter of 101 metres. The site was chosen due to its high average wind speeds (category one rated). The wind farm is owned and operated by Energia.

Energia is one of Ireland’s leading providers of sustainable energy green and has 684 MW of operational renewable electricity capacity contracted within its energy portfolio, with a further 280MW of wind farm projects currently in development across Ireland. Energia are on track to supply over 1,000MWs by 2016. Energia currently has a 25% market share of the Irish wind generation sector.
