Subway announces 1,800 jobs
Fast Food retailer Subway is to create 1,800 new jobs in Ireland over the next six years, it has been announced.
The chain is planning to open more than 180 new stores here over the next six years. Some 400 of the new positions are expected to come on stream this year.
Labour TD Kevin Humphreys said: “This is excellent news for the Irish economy and signals the growing confidence in our domestic business environment.
“Subway has a strong foothold in the Irish market, having opened 16 new stories here as recently as last year.”
He added: “It indicates that ongoing efforts by Government to create the right context and environment for new jobs and new business are gradually paying dividends for the economy, and I hope things continue to move in the right direction.”
