Burlington rebranded
DoubleTree by Hilton has announced the rebranding of one of Dublin’s most renowned hotels, formerly The Burlington, to become DoubleTree by Hilton Dublin – Burlington Road, which will be the venue for the 22nd Irish Travel Trade Awards on Wednesday 11th December 2013.
A €16 million phased programme of investment is underway to renovate the hotel, expected to be completed by spring 2014, rejuvenating it with all the hallmarks of the upscale DoubleTree by Hilton brand.
DoubleTree by Hilton Dublin – Burlington Road is the largest hotel in the M50 belt, with 2,100 sq m of banqueting, ballroom space and conference facilities for up to 1,400 delegates. The introduction of a dedicated floor comprising 18 conference suites and meeting rooms, each facilitating up to 100 delegates, underlines its credentials as the city’s best in class provider of meetings and events.
John Greenleaf, global head, DoubleTree by Hilton, said: “With a fantastic location and boasting 41 years of prestigious history, this hotel is an outstanding addition to our portfolio. Visitors to Dublin are already familiar with DoubleTree by Hilton’s famous warm welcome and freshly baked chocolate chip cookie at check-in, thanks to the successful opening of The Morrison, a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel on Ormond Quay, and we are proud to bring yet another of Ireland’s most renowned hotel addresses to our brand.”
All 501 guestrooms are being upgraded with the addition of 42” flat screen TVs, with DoubleTree by Hilton amenities including an assortment of in-room coffee and tea, collection of Citron Honey & Coriander Crabtree & Evelyn Bath Products and the Sweet Dreams by DoubleTree sleep experience.
Simon Vincent, President, EMEA, Hilton Worldwide, said: “Hilton Worldwide has an excellent reputation for providing superb conference and event properties in key locations around the world and DoubleTree by Hilton Dublin – Burlington Road will be an excellent addition to the portfolio. With Dublin’s appeal as a popular business and leisure destination, and its tradition of fine Irish hospitality, we are delighted to bolster our presence here, and provide more reasons to visit.”
The hotel’s restaurant options have undergone a complete overhaul with the new Sussex restaurant forming an open, spacious dining area created for the service of the brand’s Wake up DoubleTree Breakfast. Executive chef Tony O’Donnell is devising a new culinary vision that will be modern, with a strong emphasis on the use of local produce. Future conversion plans for the Mespil Bar will see it transformed into an executive lounge and the famous Bellini’s Bar will be renamed the B Bar, in homage to the hotel’s history.
As with all Hilton Worldwide hotels, guests at DoubleTree by Hilton Dublin – Burlington Road will be eligible to earn and redeem Hilton HHonors points, gaining worldwide rewards at more than 4,000 hotels across the globe. Hilton HHonors is also the only guest-loyalty programme to offer ‘No Blackout Dates’ and ‘Points & Miles’ for the same stay.
David Monks, General Manager, said: “While the hotel will retain much of the character for which it has long been known and loved, the transformation is already apparent from the moment you step inside the lobby. New design features such as mood lighting, wood panelling, and more subtle, mooted colours combine to create a contemporary, minimalist effect. This is a new era for the hotel and we are confident that regular and new guests will be hugely impressed.”
