Eircom getting it’s fibre
Eircom today launched its much anticipated super-fast fibre broadband network.
The new service is available to 230,000 homes and businesses in urban areas from Monday.
A further 370,000 homes and businesses – again, in urban areas – will fall into the catchment area by the end of the year. Eircom says that 1.2 million homes and businesses will fall into its fibre catchment area by the end of next year (2014).
In addition to constructing and operating what will be the country’s largest fibre network, eircom is launching a suite of eFibre products and bundles for consumers and businesses.
It offers download speeds of up to 70Mb as well as Ireland’s fastest upload speeds of up to 20Mb. There is also an unlimited download allowance for all eFibre products above the entry level.
Starting at E40 for consumers and E24.79 for businesses, eircom’s eFibre products offer significant value. More than 300,000 consumers and businesses in Ireland can order eFibre from eircom today.
All qualifying eircom broadband customers will be able to upgrade for free to eFibre. This includes a free modem, free installation and no connection charge.
eFibre also offers the only fibre, voice and mobile triple play bundle on the market today in Ireland.
Eircom said that, for consumers, eFibre provides speeds that are six to 10 times faster than current broadband speeds allowing the entire home to be connected to superfast broadband at the same time via desktops, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
Kevin White, Managing Director, Consumer, eircom, said “eFibre fundamentally changes the online experience for users. It offers customers superfast fibre broadband at competitive prices. More importantly, we are rewarding our customers by offering them the chance to upgrade to eFibre for free to experience the difference themselves. This is the first in a series of announcements that will demonstrate how eircom is offering customers fast, reliable and competitively priced products. No one else can offer a triple play bundle with eFibre, home phone and eMobile, and we won’t stop there, as we move towards introducing Ireland’s first quad-play service.”
