Forty jobs are on the way to Carlow at Unum, it was announced today. The insurance company says it is looking for 40 additional employees at its software development centre in Carlow. The move will bring the site’s headcount to 112. Unum provides financial protection benefits in the workplace such as disability, life, accident and critical illness insurance.
ICT Ireland, the IBEC group that represents the high-tech sector, today welcomed the announcement by global benefits provision company, Unum, that it is to create 40 high-tech jobs at its software centre of excellence in Carlow.
ICT Ireland Director Paul Sweetman said: “Today’s announcement by Unum is very encouraging. Not only is Ireland viewed as a world class location for technology companies, it is also seen as a premier location for the technology divisions of corporations from broader sectors, such as financial services. Against the backdrop of major measures to support the technology sector announced in the 2013 Action Plan for Jobs, continued strong growth of the Irish technology sector is expected. With over 14,400 jobs announced in the last 3 years, implementation of our positive policies to satisfy the skills demand should now be the focus.”
