CIF to launch national Construction Safety Campaign with Irish Heart Foundation

The Construction Industry Federation (CIF) will launch a national Construction Safety Campaign with the Irish Heart Foundation on Monday 14 October at the Walls Construction Irish Life site, in Dublin.

Construction Safety Campaign 2024 will launch on Monday 14th October at 10:00 am, at Irish Life Centre, 10 Abbey Street Lower, North City, Dublin 1, D01 V5Y2, with live CPR demonstrations by site workers with CPR dummies, facilitated by the Irish Heart Foundation.

The campaign will see thousands of construction workers and companies focus on mitigating critical risks on construction sites, and education on safety practices, and heart health. Construction companies will hold ‘toolbox talks’, CPR training events and many other initiatives across the country to educate staff about critical risks and highlight safety awareness initiatives under #CIFSafety24.

Speakers on the day will include:

  • Frank Kelly, COO, Walls Construction
  • Sean Downey, Director of Safety & Training, CIF
  • Brigid Sinnott, Resuscitation Manager, Irish Heart Foundation

Sean Downey, Director of Safety and Training at the Construction Industry Federation said: “There’s nothing more important than protecting the health of those who work on our sites and projects. Construction workers can face hazards while performing essential tasks.

“Critical Risks are activities undertaken frequently that, if not controlled, could lead to significant injury or fatality. On-site risks include working at heights, operating heavy machinery and electrical work, alongside mental health and physical health. The Construction Safety Campaign is a chance for the industry to work together to mitigate these risks through awareness, preparedness, and education.

“This year we have teamed up with the Irish Heart Foundation to promote heart health awareness at home and on-site. We’re asking construction companies to complete CPR training in their workplaces to equip staff with this lifesaving skill.” To find out more, visit: www.cif.ie/safetycampaign
