Danone has delivered the world’s first carbon neutral infant formula plant at its facility in Wexford.

The company committed to zero net carbon emissions across its full value-chain by 2050. It joined 86 other global companies in 2019 signing the Global Compact’s Business Ambition for 1.5 degrees pledge.

Danone Wexford employs over 300 people has doubled production volumes while securing a carbon neutral certification. The plant is certified by Carbon Trust an independent global climate change and sustainability consultancy.

The Danone Wexford plant produces a range of leading brands including Aptamil and Cow & Gate. The plant manufactures high-quality baby formula using a biomass boiler powered by locally sourced sustainable wood fuels to generate 100% renewable electricity.

A 70% reduction in its direct carbon footprint since 2010 has been achieved.
