ESB International wins €1.5 million in Energy Consultancy projects in Asia
ESB International, the global engineering consultancy firm, announced today that it has won four new contracts in Asia spanning Malaysia, Myanmar and the Philippines.
The wins are testament to ESB International’s growing international reputation and its ability to compete on a global stage and extend its reach in Asia.

Commenting on the contract wins, Ollie Brogan, Managing Director at ESB International said: “Asia is a major focus for ESB International and a big part of our growth plans for the coming years. From our direct experience as the engineering arm of Ireland’s leading utility, ESB, we can assist companies to modernise, develop, plan and invest in their energy businesses.”
As part of these wins, ESB International has been awarded its first contract in Myanmar. The International Finance Corporation (IFC, a member of the World Bank Group), together with Yangon City Electricity Supply Board (YESB) has chosen ESB International to act as their Technical Advisor for the proposed corporatisation of YESB, the main electricity distribution company in the Yangon Region of Myanmar.
Working on behalf of IFC and YESB, ESB International will use its vast utility experience to support YESB to identify urgent investment needs as well as develop a roadmap for its future development. Consultancy advice on the required investment in the network to support reliable electricity supply and sharply rising electricity demands in the region will also be part of the scope of the project.
In Malaysia, ESB International has won two contracts valued at over €1 million to review the electricity sector in the state of Sabah. And lastly, in thePhilippines, ESB International has won a contract with utility company, Meralco FPM. ESB International will advise Meralco FPM on the building of a new pump storage tower, which ESB International has first-hand knowledge of, as the company was involved in an Irish pumped storage power plant in Turlough Hill, which is owned by parent company ESB.
