Dornan Rás Mumhan 2025 – A highlight of the Irish Cycling Calendar

Cycling enthusiasts are gearing up for one of the most significant events in the Irish domestic calendar, the 2025 Dornan Rás Mumhan.

This year’s race once again promises excitement, with participation from both international and domestic teams set against the stunning landscapes of Kerry and Cork, which serve as both the backdrop and the stage for this annual test of endurance among some of the finest athletes in modern sport.

Last year’s winner, Australian Luke Tuckwell, now signed with WorldTour team Bora-Hansgrohe U23, and Irishman Ben Healy, the 2019 champion and one of the most aggressive riders on the WorldTour, have both used this event as a stepping stone to the highest levels of international cycling. Dom Jackson, last year’s runner-up and member of the London Irish-based Foran Cycling Team, went on to claim victory at the prestigious Rás Tailteann 2024. Will he return this year to add the Dornan Rás Mumhan title to his growing list of achievements?

Race Director John Breen commented: “Rás Mumhan has long been a showcase for both emerging talent and seasoned riders. It takes pride in being a platform for the best in the world of cycling. The 2025 edition will once again help identify the future stars of the sport, making it an exciting time for Irish cycling.”

The 2025 Dornan Rás Mumhan will retain its established five-stage format, kicking off with a Team Time Trial and featuring the surprise return of a previously used stage, details of which will be announced soon.

Renowned for its emphasis on teamwork and competitive spirit, Dornan Rás Mumhan remains a cornerstone of Irish cycling. Title sponsor Dornan – A Turner Company embodies this ethos, with Group Managing Director Micheál O’Connor stating: “This race not only highlights the exceptional talent and determination of its participants but also strengthens the bonds within local communities that come together to support it. We are delighted to play a role in celebrating the resilience, teamwork, and passion that make this event so unique and look forward to an incredible weekend of racing.”

With an ever-expanding international field, Dornan Rás Mumhan continues to attract entries from France, the UK, Belgium, and the Netherlands, alongside strong representation from Irish clubs and provincial teams. The mix of international and domestic riders ensures a thrilling event for participants and spectators alike.

Host clubs, including Currow, Abbeyfeale, Killarney, Killorglin, and Sliabh Luachra, play an indispensable role in organising and supporting the race. Their collaboration with Cycling Ireland and Cycling Munster highlights the community-driven effort that underpins the event’s success.

President of Cycling Ireland, Tom Daly, remarked: “It is wonderful to see this historic race continuing to play such a pivotal role in the calendar. The organising team deserves the gratitude of the racing community for their dedication to its development. I also extend my thanks to Dornan – A Turner Company, whose support, alongside that of Cycling Ireland and Cycling Munster, ensures the high standard of this event, which the organisers strive to uphold for the riders.”

Sinéad Moriarty, Secretary of Rás Mumhan, added: “The commitment of our host clubs and volunteers is vital to the success of Rás Mumhan. Their dedication ensures the event remains a highlight of the Irish cycling calendar.”

Most teams have expressed their interest in participating with the roster nearly at capacity, please ensure this has been completed as soon as possible. For further details, please contact secretary@rasmumhan.ie.
