JB Barry & Partners to rebrand as Egis
JB Barry & Partners, the Dublin-headquartered consultant engineering firm, has rebranded as Egis following its acquisition by the French-headquartered global engineering and operations group.
The rebranding comes after a period of integration between the two, which commenced following the acquisition in June last year. Under a united brand, the organisation now offers a unique end-to-end engineering and operations service, combining the local expertise and experience of JB Barry, and its subsidiary Barry Transportation, with the global reach and strength of Egis.
The move means Egis will be better positioned to deliver major infrastructure projects for clients as part of Project Ireland 2040. It also means Egis is now one of the largest multi-disciplinary consultancy, engineering and operations firms in the country.
With over 600 staff in Ireland across 16 offices and sites nationwide, Egis is committed to enabling sustainable economic development and responding to the requirements of population growth while addressing climate change and reducing carbon emissions. The company has ambitions to grow the business in Ireland and further acquisitions are expected in the future.
Established in 1959, JB Barry & Partners has been involved in a series of flagship and award-winning projects including the upgrade of Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant in Dublin and the N17/N18 Gort to Tuam PPP motorway scheme in Galway. It had grown to 180 people across four offices when it was acquired by Egis in June 2023.
Egis’ expertise spans every aspect of the built environment – from water to transportation, buildings, and energy. The company is part of the French-headquartered global Egis Group and has been in Ireland since 1994. Its current activities in Ireland include operating and maintaining the Dublin Tunnel and the Jack Lynch Tunnel in Cork, operating Ireland’s Motorway Traffic Control Centre, overseeing 470km of Ireland’s motorways and the operation of Ireland’s mobile road safety camera network.
Commenting on the integration of the firms, Steve Preece, Chief Executive, Egis in Ireland, said: “There are many synergies between Egis and JB Barry & Partners, and a history of success and mutual respect in our markets. Since the acquisition, we have continued to grow our revenues, increase staff and offer more services to our clients. Looking ahead, we see a bright future combining the expertise and experience of Barry’s team with the vision and strength of our global organisation.”
He added: “Egis has always operated as a global, but local company. When integrating a new company into the group, we know success lies in valuing individual strengths and never driving a single viewpoint or ideology. The integration of Barry’s with Egis is ultimately about bringing together people, with complementary specialisms, and diverse points of view. Diversity breeds innovation, and creativity – both of which are core Egis values and which we believe to be essential to solving the scale of challenges facing engineers and clients today.”
Liam Prendiville, Managing Director of JB Barry & Partners said: “With Egis we have found a company that shares our values, our dedication to excellence and our focus on delivering high-quality projects. Under one brand we are better equipped to respond to larger domestic and international tenders, offering our clients new added value services, particularly in digital transformation, asset management, smart cities, and sustainability. We are now one of the largest multidisciplinary consultant, engineering and operations firms in the country, and we can use that scale to make a significant impact through our projects.”
Effective from today July 10, JB Barry will become Egis, with offices, brochures, projects and presentations adopting the Egis brand. The company will continue to provide the same services by the same teams with the support and backing of the global organisation.
