Build Digital has announced a new strategic collaboration with the Grangegorman Development Agency (GDA). GDA will lead project operations for the Build Digital Project as part of an emerging special projects function within the Agency.

This collaboration will further strengthen links between industry, government and academia, and support Build Digital in delivering their goal of an integrated, accessible series of digital approaches and trainings to transform the construction industry.

Three new roles are being created within GDA to support the Build Digital Project which is a key action under Project Ireland 2040.

Speaking about the collaboration, Ger Casey GDA CEO said: “”Since the GDA was first formed the construction sector has experienced rapid digital changes. While positive, this progress has also presented challenges, especially in keeping pace and ensuring industry-wide standardisation. This is where the Build Digital Project comes in – their goal of establishing consistent digital processes aligns with the GDA’s ambition of working towards a coordinated and more productive construction sector. We’re delighted to embark on this mutually beneficial partnership, where we can draw on our expertise to support Build Digital and TU Dublin in leading this industry-wide transformation.”

The involvement of GDA as operational lead, and the new roles that are being created as a result, will greatly strengthen the overall impact of Build Digital and the ongoing journey of the digitisation of the Irish Construction and Built Environment industry”.

The Build Digital Project is a priority action as part of the Government’s Project Ireland 2040 to enable increased innovation in the Irish Construction Sector. The GDA joins project lead TU Dublin and their partners – Atlantic Technological University, Munster Technological University, South East Technological University and University College Dublin – for the remainder of the project.

New Roles
