JJ Rhatigan & Company makes two new Senior Appointments
The latest phase of expansion at JJ Rhatigan & Company sees Niall Higgins take the role of Chief Operations Officer, while Francis Mulry has been appointed Chief Commercial Officer, readying the business to deliver on an ambitious €1bn pipeline of projects.
Independently ranked in the top ten contractors operating in the Irish construction market, JJ Rhatigan & Company has recorded substantial growth over the past five years, delivering no fewer than 3,500 homes nationwide, for both the public sector and the private sector.
Over the same period, the Galway-headquartered company has also delivered more than 12,000 school places, 9 new third-level campus facilities, 2,000 student accommodation bedrooms, close to 1,300 hotel bedrooms, 16 healthcare facilities, and over 40,000m2 of office and commercial space in key locations around Ireland. JJ Rhatigan is currently involved in 18 projects across Ireland and the UK, with a combined value exceeding €1.05bn.
Established in 1952, JJ Rhatigan remains a family-run operation, carrying on a strong tradition of building quality and innovation. Newly-appointed COO Niall Higgins, who has been working with JJ Rhatigan & Company for 18 years, will ensure the continuation of this legacy. With a qualification in construction management, Niall is a chartered member of the MCIOB and has a breadth of industry experience across Ireland and the UK. He served as Regional Manager for JJ Rhatigan & Company UK for over 4 years before taking up the position of Regional Manager in Ireland, later progressing to Regional Director. This new COO role will see him take on responsibility for overseeing the operations and procedures of the company, under Group Managing Director Padraic Rhatigan and CEO Ger Ronayne.
“The construction industry is undergoing massive transformation right now, which presents a number of unprecedented challenges, but also unprecedented opportunities. I am personally and professionally delighted to take on these challenges and opportunities as COO. The prevailing legacy within JJ Rhatigan & Company ensures that the company is well-positioned not just to withstand this industry transformation, but to lead it,” said Niall Higgins, COO.
Francis Mulry, who has been working with JJ Rhatigan & Company for 24 years, takes on the role of Chief Commercial Officer. The newly-appointed CCO joined the company back in 1997 as a project Quantity Surveyor, where he worked on a wide range of projects, including leisure, education, public access buildings and housing, rising through the ranks to become Commercial Director. Francis has been instrumental in developing the business over the past two decades, helping it to become one of Ireland’s leading contractors.
Francis Mulry, CCO, speaking about his recent appointment: “Much has changed in construction over the past 24 years, however, the fundamentals of quality, managing efficiencies and consistently meeting and exceeding client expectations remain at the core. This is not possible without a great team and excellent communication, which is a key differentiator here at JJ Rhatigan & Company. I welcome the opportunity to help guide the business in its next phase of development and success.”
These latest appointments align with other significant management progressions within the organisation and will position JJ Rhatigan & Company to avail of large-scale opportunities into the future. Continued investment in the progression of the team ensures the business can carry on the tradition of quality and innovation while delivering on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitments across projects and business activities.
