Sisk sponsored Race Day to showcase Curragh redevelopment

John Sisk & Son is the Race Day sponsor at The Curragh on 1 September 2018 to mark the progress being made on the Grandstand it is building at the iconic course.

Sisk was appointed last year by The Curragh as the main contractor to construct the magnificent new facilities that are scheduled to be completed in time for the 2019 racing season.

The centrepiece of the redevelopment is the eye-catching major new grandstand which will incorporate five-star corporate facilities, restaurants, bars and superb viewing facilities for racing fans. A new arrivals and reception area will incorporate a brand-new visitor attraction incorporating a museum to celebrate the history of racing in Ireland and the contribution Ireland has made to the sport worldwide.

An exciting “Curragh Development Interactive Information Area” will be located in the Grand Hall Marquee to showcase the new development, including the chance to view the spectacular new grandstand via virtual reality, while this exciting initiative will provide the opportunity to meet some of the members of the Curragh and Sisk project team who will be available to give a fascinating overview of the overall development project.

John Sisk & Son has also created all the trophies in wood for their four races on the day in its own joinery workshop in Dublin where it trains the next generation of carpenters and joiners.

Stephen Bowcott, CEO, John Sisk & Son, said: “It is our job to lead the construction of the magnificent new facilities at The Curragh and considerable progress has been made to date, as anyone attending on 1 September will see. Our sponsorship of this Race Day offers us an opportunity to show race goers what the facilities will look like when they are completed and to tell some of the story of the project to date. The Curragh is the latest in an extensive list of iconic sporting venues which Sisk has built, and we are looking forward to ultimately delivering this innovative project and welcoming race goers back again next year to see it all its glory.”

Derek McGrath, CEO of the Curragh, commented: “The project is progressing very well and we are delighted to be working with John Sisk & Son on this exciting initiative on Saturday 1 September which will bring the development to life and give us with the opportunity for both the Curragh and Sisk teams to engage with racegoers.”

The Curragh have teamed up with John Sisk & Son to launch a competition on their Facebook page www.facebook.com/thecurraghracecourse. The lucky winner will be a guest of John Sisk & Son on 1st September and enjoy an exclusive behind the scenes tour to view the new iconic Grandstand.
