Minister Murphy approves a further 70 Rapid Build Homes in Dublin City
Eoghan Murphy, T.D., Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, has just approved the construction of 70 rapid delivery houses at three locations in Dublin City.
The houses will be built in Cherry Orchard, Ballyfermot (53 units) and in Rathvilly Park (13 units) and Woodbank Drive (4 units), Finglas.
The houses will comprise 39 three bedroom units and 31 two bedroom units and will provide much needed homes for up to 320 people.
Minister Murphy welcomed the efforts being made by Dublin City Council to address urgently the issue of homelessness stating that “the overarching aim of Rebuilding Ireland is to ramp up delivery of housing to help individuals and families meet their housing needs. Achieving the aim of accelerated delivery will contribute to the core objectives of addressing the unacceptable level of households, particularly families, in emergency accommodation”.
Minister Murphy is providing funding in the order of €15.3million for this project, which will include enhanced road infrastructure, services and community amenities. It is expected that the first units will be delivered and completed by the end of this year and that the project will be completed in early 2018.
