Irish Planning Institute Autumn Conference to Explore Planning and Energy
The Irish Planning Institute (IPI), the all island professional body representing planners in Ireland, will host its Autumn Planning Conference “Planning to Harness Ireland’s Energy Opportunity” in the Gibson Hotel, Dublin on 11th October 2013.
The conference will be opened by Minister for Housing and Planning, Jan O’Sullivan TD and closed by Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Pat Rabbitte TD and a number of expert speakers. It is sponsored by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, in partnership with the Intelligent Energy Europe funded project, SPECIAL (Spatial Planning and Energy for Communities in All Landscapes).
Commenting IPI President Mary Crowley stated “Energy is one of the defining challenges facing planning today. The purpose of this one day conference is to provide an opportunity for planners and others to share ideas, network and keep abreast of the changes guiding and influencing the sector. Delegates will be brought up to speed on recent policy, technical, legislative and legal developments.”
Ms Crowley continued “The conference is timely as the IPI are proud partners in the three year Intelligent Energy Europe funded Spatial Planning and Energy for Communities in All Landscapes (SPECIAL) project which focuses on the role of planning in the deployment of local energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions. It offers a unique opportunity to improve the skills and knowledge of planning professionals across Ireland and Europe.”
