Matheson Ormsby Prentice to Rebrand

Matheson Ormsby Prentice, the law firm, has announced that from Tuesday 30 October 2012, it will be known as Matheson. The new name and brand identity is another important step in the firm’s strategy to differentiate itself from other law firms by its primary focus on international companies and financial institutions doing business in and through Ireland.

Matheson acts for more than half of the Fortune 100 companies and 27 of the world’s 50 largest financial institutions.  In fact, such companies now account for nearly 80% of the firm’s business.
Commenting on the new name, Liam Quirke, Managing Partner at Matheson said, “Many of our international clients already refer to us as Matheson.  Formally re-branding the firm as Matheson is, therefore, a logical but nonetheless exciting milestone for us.”

Matheson employs more than 600 people in its Dublin, London, New York and Silicon Valley offices.  The firm has always had a strong focus on international companies and financial institutions.  For example, it opened its London office in the 1980s and in 1996, it was the first European law firm to open an office in Silicon Valley. The firm opened its New York office in 2003.

Earlier this month, Matheson was the only Irish law firm commended by the Financial Times for corporate strategy in its 2012 report on the most innovative law firms in Europe.
