Minister for Health, Dr. James Reilly officially opened the King’s Island Primary Care Centre and launch the Primary Care Team. King’s Island Primary Care Centre, located on the North side of Limerick City adjacent to King John’s Castle and other historical sites of Limerick, represents a substantial investment in providing health care in the region.
The new Primary Care Centre integrates a range of Primary Care services including General Practitioners, Community Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Community Dietician and Speech and Language Therapist.
All of the HSE services at the centre are available to the population of the catchment area, which includes Corbally and King’s Island and patients of the four GP practices on the King’s Island Primary Care Team.
Welcoming the new development, Bernard Gloster, HSE Area Manager, Mid-West, stated; “We are delighted to officially open this Primary Care Facility, which will greatly enhance the delivery of services within the area. This new Primary Care Centre will allow people in the area to access a range of Primary Care services within the one building.”
Dr. Richard Murray, whose practice is a member of the Primary Care Team, commented “Our practice is delighted to continue to treat our patients at this new centre and the HSE facilities and services provided and accessible by them, are second to none”.
The services in the new Primary Care Centre include a co-located GP practice, Kings Island Medical Centre (formerly know as Dr Murray’s Family Practice) which has been practising in Limerick for 50 years.
