CGI International Invests in Technical Infrastructure

Ahead of the CPR (Construction Product Regulation) coming into force in 2013, CGI International, manufacturer of the Pyroguard range of products and a leading independent manufacturer of fire glass solutions, has committed to further investment in its technical support infrastructure – the first step of which is the appointment of Trevor Crossley as Technical Administrator.

This new position has been created to specifically support preparations for the UK’s move to CPR. Trevor will be responsible for the maintenance and distribution of technical document evidence as well as the provision of expertise, both internally and through CGI’s customers and contacts across the country. Joining the head office team in Haydock, UK, Trevor will work closely with the existing technical team to maintain certifications and coordinate the implementation of CGI International’s CE licensing protocol.

Moving to CGI International after 11 years at Ultraframe, Trevor brings extensive expertise in product development, project management and technical training. This means Trevor is well placed to ensure customers are effectively supported and prepared for the forthcoming changes:

“Next year will be challenging for many companies and I am looking forward to helping guide them through the new regulation and legislative process, so that they can maintain their effectiveness in the market and continue to drive Pyroguard specifications.”

Responsible for the full Pyroguard product range, Trevor will be able to provide guidance on specifying the most appropriate solution for a specific project requirement. David Jolliffe, Managing Director, CGI International, comments: “The implementation of the CPR represents a significant change for many of our customers, and as such, we believe it is our responsibility to ensure they have access to the right support and information to ensure a smooth transition.

“As a specialist in fire glass solutions, CGI International offers much more than a high quality and fully tested range of products – we invest heavily in the technical support that underpins the specification and installation of our systems. Trevor’s appointment is the latest example of this, with plans already underway to extend the technical team further in early 2012.”

As part of his new role, Trevor will also be responsible for the communication of test achievements and production of technical literature, ensuring these are effectively disseminated and made available on the company website. This will include the real-time updating of the ‘Applications and Tests Selector’, an online specification support tool that streamlines the identification of Pyroguard products certified for a specific application.
