A spokesperson for ESB said that, the development will deliver “one of the most efficient, sustainable and commercial offices in the city, while respecting and enhancing the Georgian streetscape of ESB’s historic home”.

The current mix of offices are in some cases up to 70 years old and do not perform in line with contemporary structures.

The new development will be aiming to achieve a BER of A and a sustainability standard of BREEAM Excellent.

It will be built using the most up to date and technologically advanced systems which will reduce carbon emissions and running costs.

The contemporary design by Grafton Architects and O’Mahony Pike Architects aims to bring back the essence of the street while facilitating the creation of a dynamic office space and follows from an international design contest held in recognition of the importance of the South Georgian Core.

Pending planning approval the build date is scheduled to start by 2016.
