Cairn appoints Sean Gavin as Director of Commercial & Procurement

Cairn, Ireland’s leading home and community builder, has announced the appointment of Sean Gavin as Director of Commercial & Procurement.

This appointment marks an important step in strengthening Cairn’s commercial leadership as the business continues to scale its national delivery model and deliver high quality homes and communities across Ireland.

Sean will lead Cairn’s Commercial and Procurement functions, with responsibility for shaping the strategy across cost management, cost planning and supply chain development. His focus will be on building a high-performing, future ready function through increased focus on pre-construction and supporting innovation.

Sean brings 30 years’ experience from leading developer organisations in the UK. He joins Cairn from London Square, where he held the role of Managing Director (South) with full responsibility for delivery, investment and commercial performance. Prior to this, he spent over a decade at Berkeley Group in senior leadership roles, overseeing the full delivery of major residential projects including some of London’s most prestigious and complex projects, and also held the position of UK Construction Director at Ballymore.

Commenting on the appointment, Gavin Whelan, Chief Operating Officer at Cairn, said: “We are delighted to welcome Sean to Cairn at an important point in our growth. As we continue to scale our operational functions, strong commercial leadership and preparedness is critical to how we manage cost and risk, drive consistency and deliver at pace.

Sean brings a huge amount of experience across delivery, commercial performance and leadership. He has a strong track record of building high performing teams and leading residential businesses, and I am confident he will make a significant contribution to Cairn as we continue to grow.”

Sean Gavin added: “I am very pleased to be joining Cairn at such an exciting stage in its development. The company has a clear ambition and a strong track record of delivery. I look forward to working with the leadership team to further strengthen the commercial and procurement functions, work closely with our supply chain partners and support the continued growth of the business.”

Sean will work closely with the senior leadership team to further develop Cairn’s commercial capability and support the delivery of its long-term strategy.
