CPAC Modular Launches First RIAI‑Approved CPD Course on MMC

CPAC Modular has announced the launch of Built Smarter 2, the first RIAI‑approved CPD course dedicated to Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) in Ireland. This new immersive course responds to the growing need to skill-up and maximise the area of MMC to respond to urgent infrastructural needs across Ireland.

By embracing modern methods of construction, infrastructure can be built faster and more sustainably than traditional methods.  Ireland’s first CPD course on MMC will guide architects, engineers, contractors, developers and more through the evolution, sustainability and endless possibilities of Modern Methods of Construction.

Commenting on the announcement, An Taoiseach Micheál Martin said, “The launch of this course on Modern Methods of Construction is an important milestone for the construction sector and a clear signal of the innovation now emerging across the industry. By equipping architects, engineers and designers with the skills and confidence to embrace new building technologies, CPAC Modular is helping to accelerate the delivery of high‑quality, sustainable projects in every part of the country. This is exactly the kind of forward‑thinking approach we need as we work to build homes, schools, healthcare facilities and public infrastructure more efficiently and more responsibly. I welcome this leadership from CPAC Modular and look forward to seeing the impact it will have across the wider economy.”

Building on the success of the award‑winning Built Smarter 1, this new immersive programme takes architects on a detailed journey through the rapidly evolving world of MMC, highlighting what is now possible for contemporary design and construction. The course was officially unveiled at a special event hosted at the Irish Architectural Archive in Dublin, where architects and industry partners gathered for an evening of insight, discussion, and education.

Speaking at the launch, Gavin Fox, Director of Business Development at CPAC Modular, said: “Built Smarter 2 has been designed to give a clear, practical understanding of how MMC has advanced in recent years. There are still many misconceptions about what modern methods of construction can and cannot achieve. This course breaks those down and demonstrates the quality, flexibility, and design potential that MMC offers today and challenges why it is not being fully utilised currently.”

The event featured a panel discussion exploring the future of MMC in Irish architecture. The panel included Sean Murphy, Managing Director of CPAC Modular, alongside leading architects Rory Ryan from Ryan + Lamb Architects, Fergus Flanagan from Fergus Flanagan Architects and Barry Foote from Reddy Architecture who have all successfully integrated MMC into their practice. The discussion spanned themes ranging from sustainability and speed of delivery to design freedom and client expectations.

Sean Murphy, Managing Director of CPAC Modular, added “We are proud to be the first to deliver an RIAI‑approved CPD focused on modern methods of construction. Built Smarter 2 reflects our ongoing investment in innovation and education for the industry.”
