The Ireland Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI) has announced that Peter Glynne has stepped into the role of President.

In this new position, which is a two-year appointment, Peter will be leading the Chapter’s board of 16 directors and will represent the project management profession across Ireland. As part of this, he will lead programmes and oversee initiatives that will engage young people, create a sense of community within the profession, and promote innovation in project management through technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).

For the past eight years, Peter has been involved with the Ireland Chapter of PMI, previously holding the roles of Vice President and Director of Marketing. He brings over 25 years’ experience to his new position as President, having led volunteer groups in project management professional bodies across Ireland and the UK for two decades and managed complex change programmes as part of his roles within PwC, Deloitte, Microsoft Consulting and Auxilion.

He also holds a master’s degree in Project Management from the University of Limerick and qualified from the Chartered Governance Institute of UK and Ireland. During his time as President-Elect of the Ireland Chapter of PMI, Peter authored a book entitled “Benefits Led Change: Maximising Value”.

Speaking about his new role, Peter Glynne said: “This is an especially exciting time to be taking up the role as President of the Ireland Chapter of PMI, and I am incredibly enthused by what the next two years might hold. Given the advances in technology, the opportunities for innovation in our profession are endless. As well as capitalising on this potential and maintaining a sense of community within our profession in Ireland, I would hope to strengthen our representation throughout Europe and beyond. I hope to leave a positive legacy on the Chapter as my predecessors have done throughout time.”

Jackie Fagan, outgoing President of the PMI Ireland Chapter, said: “I am confident that the Irish PMI Chapter is in good hands with Peter as its new President. His years of experience inside and outside the Institute make him the ideal successor and I look forward to working with him to help the organisation continue to grow and progress in the coming years.”
