This morning saw the start of the Industry and Public’s opportunity to decide on the 2019 ICE Awards ‘Project of the Year’.

The national prize will be voted for by the construction industry and members of the public on the ICE Awards website and will be presented at the Gala Dinner in the Round Room at the Mansion House on Friday, 29 March, 2019.

In 2018 over 10,000 votes were cast with Páirc Uí Chaoimh GAA Stadium, Cork clinching the prize. The Award is presented in association with Arthur Cox.

The finalists for the Irish Construction Excellence Awards 2019 (ICE Awards) were announced recently and showcase the best of Irish construction.

The ICE Awards celebrate excellence across the industry, award categories include Innovation in Construction, Public or Heritage, Commercial, Residential and Healthcare.

The shortlist features a great mix of notable projects nationwide, including the new LinkedIn EMEA HQ building in Dublin by Walls Construction, Microsoft’s new Dublin HQ by BAM, the Kerry Kerry Central Water Treatment Plant, by Glan Agua, Clifden Community School in Galway by JJ Rhatigan, the New Divisional Garda Headquarters in Wexford by Duggan Brothers, Scots Church in Dublin, by Collen Construction, Dolphin House Regeneration by Purcell Construction for Dublin City Council and many others.

ICE Awards Director, Colin Walsh said, “It has been another strong year for Irish construction and we’re witnessing continued industry growth. The ICE Awards are an excellent opportunity to take stock and applaud the achievements in the public and private sectors. The standard was exceptionally high this year and the shortlist reflects this.

“The future’s looking bright too, with AECOM’s latest figures predicting a 20% growth in the industry in 2019. It’s an exciting time to work in construction in Ireland.”

ICE Awards judge, Keith Elliott, Associate Director of PM Group commented, “This year’s projects were outstanding. We saw a real commitment to sustainability and the adoption of new technologies. These awards demonstrate that Ireland is right at the forefront of innovation in building design and construction.”

Fellow judge Dorothy Jones, architect and project manager at Turner and Townsend, added, “Irish contractors maintain a high industry standard and they have a proven proactive and solution-based approach to projects. It sets them apart from their European counterparts.”

The ICE Awards judging panel is selected from a range of industry experts and includes Emma Hayes, Managing Director of Digital Built Consultants; Niall Kane, Head of Digital Engineering at VINCI Construction UK; Ruth Murrow, Professor of Architecture and Director of Impact in the School of Natural and Built Environment at Queen’s University Belfast; Sean McCarthy, Lean, IPD & Project Management Consultant and Kim Hegarty, Associate Director at Linesight.

The 2019 ICE Awards Gala Dinner will take place in the Round Room at the Mansion House, Dublin, on Friday, March 29, 2019. The historic venue is celebrating the 100 year anniversary since the first Dáil Éireann was held on January 21, 1919.

Founded in 1993, the Irish Construction Excellence Awards are the original and premier recognition of performance excellence for the contracting sector in Ireland. The ICE Awards has two stages, assessment and interview.
