€2 million Musgraves MarketPlace open in Waterford.
Musgrave Wholesale Partners officially opened their new MarketPlace cash & carry outlet at a new site on Kilbarry Road, Co. Waterford. €2 million has been invested in the new outlet bringing Musgrave’s total investment in its MarketPlace network to €10 million to-date, with an additional €3 million to be invested in branch revamps over the next three years.
The new 56,000 square foot outlet employs 70 staff, making it the largest cash & carry in the south-east of Ireland, with over 15,000 products in stock.
The state-of-the-art premises, which boast an innovative, customer-friendly layout and enhanced shopping experience, will also offer customers a new on-line ordering service, the first of its kind in Ireland, which will launch at the end of the month.
As part of Musgrave’s investment in price reductions, on-going promotions in store will be supported by fresh meat deals, best in market pricing on fruit & veg as well as newly introduced Musgrave SmartBuy products which are up to 40% cheaper than their branded equivalent.
The new Marketplace store will see the launch of new initiatives such as a meat-cutting service, freshly baked breads and 300 car park spaces. The store also offers a tailored range of products to reflect the changing trends in the market including products sourced directly from the Far East for Asian restaurants, returnable glass bottles and kegs for the Pub trade and party foods for hotels and caterers. The new store will stock over 750 chilled and frozen products as part of an increased chilled and frozen section of 10,000 sq ft, quadruple the capacity of the previous site.
Commenting at the opening, Musgrave MarketPlace Managing Director Noel Keeley, said: “Our latest investment in the Marketplace network is a vote of confidence in Waterford, the brand, our team here on the ground, and our customers both locally and across the region.
