Glanua, a leading Irish engineering company specialising in the design, construction and maintenance of critical water and wastewater infrastructure, has announced its expansion into the United States with the opening of its first US office in Radnor, Pennsylvania.

The new office, located near Philadelphia, represents the latest stage in a period of significant growth and international expansion for the Galway-headquartered company.

Glanua has already expanded its operations in Ireland, grown its UK business through acquisitions and organic development, and established an engineering hub in Lisbon. Its entry into the US now gives the company a presence across Ireland, the UK, continental Europe and North America.

The US business will initially focus on the design of specialist water and wastewater treatment systems for the life sciences, food and beverage manufacturing sectors. Glanua expects the US operation to grow significantly as it establishes its presence in the market, with plans to build a team of over 200 employees over time.

Glanua is establishing its US presence during a period of significant investment in American pharmaceutical and advanced manufacturing facilities. These projects require increasingly complex water and wastewater systems to support production, regulatory compliance, capacity expansion, operational continuity and sustainability.

Its US design offering will draw on Glanua’s extensive experience in the construction, operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants across Ireland, the UK and Europe. This practical experience enables the company’s engineers to design systems that can be built, commissioned and operated effectively.

The US team will be supported by Glanua’s engineering, project delivery and operational specialists in Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe.

The company, which is being supported by Enterprise Ireland, has appointed Mark McKeever as its US Operations Director. Mr McKeever is an experienced chemical engineer who has worked in business development and project development roles. He brings four years’ experience in global account management, business development and contract support, with a particular focus on the life sciences market. He will initially be joined by a number of Glanua engineers, with local recruitment well underway.

The opening of the US office comes during a period of strong growth for Glanua. The company employed 545 people at the end of 2025 and has since increased its workforce to more than 750. Mr McKeever became the business’s 750th employee when he joined Glanua in early September.

Glanua recorded revenue of €155 million in 2025 and expects this to exceed €200 million in 2026. The company has secured an order book valued at approximately €900 million to 2030 and is pursuing a five-year strategic plan to grow annual revenue to €400 million by 2028.

Glanua now operates ten offices and facilities across Ireland, the UK, Portugal and the US. Its international growth strategy is focused on developing teams and capabilities in local markets, supported by the specialist expertise available across the wider company.

While Glanua’s immediate US focus will be on pharmaceutical, life sciences and food manufacturing projects, the company sees longer-term opportunities across industrial water treatment, water reuse and advanced treatment technologies as manufacturers place greater emphasis on resilience, sustainability and water security.
