Kingspan opens Daylighting Centre of Excellence

Kingspan has opened the new Daylighting Centre of Excellence (DCoE). Located in Kingspan’s hometown of Kingscourt, Co. Cavan, Ireland, the €22.3m manufacturing facility is an important investment in ensuring an efficient and effective supply chain for customers and a permanent location for its global offices whilst the building itself exemplifies what can be achieved with Kingspan solutions.

A selection of Kingspan Insulated Panels and Kingspan Light + Air products were used to form a highly efficient building envelope. All the interior spaces, from the factory floor to the office areas, are flooded with natural daylight and ventilation, making it a safe and comfortable environment for staff and helping to reduce energy demand from electrical systems.

Covering 7,000 m2, the facility features five cutting-edge polycarbonate extrusion lines with the capability to produce 15,000 tonnes of polycarbonate sheeting and products per year. This provides Kingspan with complete control over the quality and availability of polycarbonate material and allows the company to produce high volumes of sheeting very efficiently to meet customers’ needs and deadlines.

Greg Flynn, Head of Extrusion Centre of Excellence & Divisional Engineering Director, Kingspan said: “Our new facility is designed to manufacture large volumes of high quality polycarbonate  products used in the production of many Kingspan products, but which we are also excited about offering direct to the consumer via our new ecommerce websites.

Our products can be used across a wide variety of applications from roofing to carports to greenhouses etc., and customers can be assured of getting competitively priced, high quality products direct from the factory”

In addition to being used to create some of their best-selling products, the polycarbonate sheeting produced is also used by other companies in the Kingspan family, as well as contractors and end users. The new KILON Solid Sheet and KILON Multiwall Polycarbonate ranges are available in a variety of lengths and widths, ready to be supplied to third parties who use the products in a wide range of applications ranging from roofing, glazing and safety guards & screens to greenhouse, pergola roofs, carports and much more.

In an effort to make it easier for customers to access polycarbonate products, Kingspan have also launched ecommerce websites in the UK and in Ireland, where anyone can order multiwall or solid sheet polycarbonate and have it delivered directly to their door or site.
