Finalists announced for the ICE Awards 2022
After weeks of deliberation, the ICE Awards Judges have selected their 2022 category finalists. The winners will be announced at the ICE Awards Gala Event which will take place on Saturday, 14 May 2022 at the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD).
The ICE Awards are the original and premier recognition of performance excellence for the contracting sector in Ireland and provide an opportunity for the industry to showcase and reward best practice across the full range of construction disciplines and project categories.
Award categories include Innovation in Construction, Public Building, Commercial, Health Safety & Wellbeing, Residential, Civil Engineering and Healthcare.
The best of the best
The project and initiative based finalists will now move forward to meet the judges at the Interview Stage in the CCD in March.
The 2022 Finalists includes many notable nationwide projects, including the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Bridge, The Exo Building, The National Rehabilitation Hospital, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and international projects including, the Museum of the Future Dubai, Lu2on Luton and others.

The Judges have spent weeks reviewing the entry material and had the unenviable task of selecting the very best from the best. It’s all to be played for now as the project and initiative based finalists go face to face with our judges at the interview stage.”
Celebrating excellence – 14 May Convention Centre Dublin
The ICE Awards is delighted to welcome back Ireland’s Reigning Queen of Comedy Deirdre O’Kane. Following on from her outstanding performance as the ‘Gala at Home’ MC, Deirdre returns to provide her inimitable talents to the ICE Awards 2022 Gala Awards event.
A co-founder of Comic Relief in Ireland, Deirdre also recently fronted her own talk show – Deirdre O’Kane Talks Funny and debuted a brand new series, The Deirdre O’Kane Show, with Sky in 2021.
“My colleagues and I wish the finalists all the very best, we look forward to celebrating the results at the ICE Awards 2022 Gala in the Convention Centre Dublin on 14 May. I have had a sneak peek at the plans for the awards gala and it is shaping up to be a spectacular event, much needed and well deserved for the industry. We are delighted to have Deirdre O’Kane return as host and we are very much looking forward to getting back to our live event and meeting and greeting old friends and new at Constructions ‘Big Night Out’”, said Colin.
Limited tickets for the ICE Awards 2022 Gala will be available after 18 February for general attendance.
Judging
The Judging Process is in alignment with and in many cases exceeds best practice internationally. This makes the ICE Awards distinctive in rigour and prestige.
Experts from across the AEC disciplines have been assembled to judge the entries. The ICE Awards Judging Process will be multi-level including an Interview Stage for most of the categories where shortlisted finalists will sit in front of our expert Judges, present their projects and have Q&A sessions. This level of engagement reaffirms the credibility and effort required by the entrants to win these prestigious awards.
The ICE Awards welcomes an esteemed panel of returning judges including PJ Rudden, Chair of the Construction Sector Group (CSG) Innovation and Digital Adoption at the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform; Mary Flynn, Co-Founder of Public BIM and Dublin City Council Quantity Surveyor; Phelim Devine, Design Director/Deputy Project Director of the National Paediatric Hospital Development Board; Jerry Grant, an experienced Non-Executive Director and Strategic Business Advisor, and former Managing Director of Irish Water; Ciarán O’Connor is the State Architect/Principal Architect in the Office of Public Works (OPW). A Fellow of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland and current member of its Council and Emma Hayes, Managing Director of Digital Built Consultants, a BIM and Digital Information Management Consultancy and Technological University Dublin Lecturer.
For 2022 the ICE Awards is delighted to welcome three industry leaders from architecture and project management. Miriam Delaney, Marion Close and Marcella Murphy.
Miriam is an architect and lecturer at the Dublin School of Architecture, TU Dublin, teaching Architectural Design and Building Technology. Marion is an Associate Director at Linesight with twenty years of experience in planning and scheduling, working with clients in a variety of sectors across the world. Marcella is the Project Manager for the proposed multimillion Parnell Square Project. The project includes demolition, construction of a new City Library, refurbishment of the existing Georgian buildings and extensive public realm works. Marcella has over twenty-five years of experience in the design and construction of major infrastructure projects.
On joining the panel Miriam Delaney says: “The ICE Awards present an opportunity to showcase quality construction in a holistic way. Excellence in construction is difficult to achieve, when projects attain excellence it’s important to reward and celebrate that, to keep raising the standard of what is possible and expected. The breadth of categories and the range of work make the ICE Awards special, and the diverse backgrounds and experience of the judges ensure that projects will be evaluated under many themes.”
