The Government has appointed Mr. Derek Moran as Secretary General in the Department of Finance and he will take up the position on 15th July, 2014.

Mr Moran is currently the Assistant Secretary General with responsibility for Fiscal Policy Division in the Department of Finance.  He is chairman of the Tax Strategy Group and a Council Member of the Foundation for Fiscal Studies.

He has served on the National Economic and Social Council, National Statistics Board and the EU’s Economic Policy and Tax Policy Committees.

He replaces John Moran who announced his decision to resign from the position in March of this year.
