SCSI welcomes ‘Property Asset Management Plan’ publication

The Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI) has welcomed the publication of the Property Asset Management Delivery Plan, ‘Accommodating Change – Measuring Success’.

The SCSI said that the Property Asset Management Delivery Plan, which was launched by Brian Hayes TD, Minister of State with special responsibility for Public Service Reform and the Office of Public Works (OPW), recognises the potential role of professional property management to reduce building running costs and ensure better value for money for tax-payers. Micheál O’Connor, President of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland said, “The running of public built estate is a significant cost to the exchequer, so the SCSI welcomes the government’s commitment to improve how the stock of buildings in public ownership or tenancy are acquired, managed and disposed of.”

The SCSI also welcomed the provisions for the establishment of a Property Managers’ Network, the adoption of European Standards for Facility Management (ISEN 15221) and a new web-mapping register, which Minster Hayes discussed at the launch today
