Dungarvan Mayor welcomes €8m investment in GSK
Cllr Damien Geoghan. Mayor of Dungarvan has welcomed a major €8m investment for the GlaxoSmithKline plant in Dungarvan.
Speaking at Waterford County Council’s monthly meeting, Mayor Geoghegan, said he was thrilled to hear that approval had been given for the €8m capital investment into the local plant, which will see the facility expand to include a new packaging line producing 100% recyclable material.
Speaking to the Waterford News & Star he said the investment would see jobs created in construction and in the plant itself into the future. It’s expected that the new packaging line will be up and running in the next 18 months.
Mayor Geohegan said it would be a big boost for the community and said the company could not be underestimated as an important economic driver in the town.
“It’s significant because there hasn’t been any major capital investment for three years there, so this is a bit of a boost now that the parent company is approving capital projects in Dungarvan. It’s good news.”
A spokesperson for GSK said details have not been finalised in relation to any new investment in GSK Dungarvan and therefore they were unable to comment on the matter at present. Source: Waterford-News
