Two road projects given the green light under the new Stimulus Package
The upgrade of Newlands Cross in south Dublin and the Arklow to Rathnew dual carriageway in Co Wicklow in April is due to start construction next month. Funded by the European Investment Bank and private sector using the PPP model, The €180m project is being delivered as part of the announced Stimulus Package.
The four lane upgrade will see the 16.5km section of roadway between Arklow and Rathnew upgraded with a new junction to be added at Newlands Cross.
Minister of State at the Office of Public Works, Brian Hayes, said 13,000 jobs would be created under a €2.25bn stimulus package, of which €1.4m would come from the private sector.
